The story of radio is a human-interest story. This story is taken from the events in 1976 in Anderson, South Carolina. Cuba Gooding, Junior is the character, who plays the role of the mentally challenged Radio. He is very real with his acting. He is loved by everyone in the movie. The real name of this character is James Robert Kennedy. He is called as Radio by all his beloveds because of his number of radio collections and because he loves listening to the radio all the time.
Radio is a very simple and a straightforward person. He starts his day in this small town by running a cart down the street. He simply does his work without talking to anyone. There is a time in the movie when, football players harass him. So, the football coach Harold Jones takes Radio under his department. Radio then starts to help the football guys in their practice and he sits on the bench to watch the games. After some time, Radio and the coach establishes a good relationship with each other. Radio, then stays in the team and he helps everyone in their football necessities.
