Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Sakaler Rang (2009)
Pran Nath a young boy in a village wants to provide books for the entire village so that the people, especially the children can get educated. For that money is required and so he goes off to the city in search of work to save some money to send back home. He is in love with a girl called Buli, whose family is one of the few Hindu families in that village.Buli, Rupa a widow and Sakina the youngest of the lot are close friends. One day the ‘Mahajan’s wife comes to spend a day in the village with Sakina’s family for a day and gets close to her. A letter arrives from Pran one day, but no one is able to read as they are illiterate. One day at night they accidentally discovers a night school where the children of the school are taught by the Mastermoshai who is actually Nandini’s father (Nandini is the Mahajan’s wife and who had been ostracized by society for getting his daughter married to a Muslim).The villagers are very pleased and a school is started in Pran Nath’s memory (Pran Nath had perished while trying to save a lady in the city and the lady had written to the villagers and that was the contents of the letter).
