Salaam Bombay! is a 1989 Indian Bollywood drama,social film released on 1989. The film is directed by Mira Nair, produced by Mira Nair , music composed by L. Subramaniam.

Salaam Bombay is a story that shows how our people can only ditch us back. It starts with Krishna a kind hearted person. He has some troubles with his elder brother and his mom. His mom leaves him by this act and then he tries to seek a job and then earn the living from the same. Krishna is then taken to Bombay, where he functions hard and dreams of coming back home with Rs. 500 but life is not easy for him, as he caught there in various false situations. Even though the story is different but, has many situations similarities to those people who come to Bombay and live in the streets. Throughout his journey, he has to face many ups and downs and get the things done right for him. He then earns Rs 500 and makes his mom happy.
