After leaving the job of professor, Jogesh Banerjee was living in his house in a coal mine area. His only daughter Ajita was a teacher of a children school. She distributed homeopathic medicines amongst the poor coal mine labours. During his stay there, Jogesh had already written a book titled “Soshon O Somriddhi”. He had requested his best friend Nibaran babu to come to his place and suggest about the publication of the book. On the occasion of annual prixe distribution of the local school, famous political leader Radhamadhab babu and his son Sushobhon were supposed to come. Ajita went to the station to receive them. The train from Calcutta had already arrived. With many languages and an umbrella in one hand a gentleman was found very uneasy. The ticket checker found that the man's ticket was attached with his wrist watch band which he forgot totally. He also forgot his umbrella as he was searching for his ticket. Ajita had never found such an absent minded person. The chair man of the local board and the doctor of a charitable dispensary doctor Mahesh Roy came to receive Radhamadhab's son Sushobhon. Radhamadhab was supposed to come by the next train. Nibaran enquired about the residence of Jogesh from them. At that time Ajita came and she met Sushobhon. In the past Dr. Mahesh Roy asked a huge amount of money from a poor labour which he was unable to pay. Usually the compounder of the charitible dispensary used to suggest the labours to go to a new comer doctor Shibu instead. One such ill fated labour was Sishuram. For the delivery of his wife while Mahesh asked for two hundred rupees, Sishuram went to the doctor Shibu. Dr. Shibu was then very busy with other patients. But when Dr. Shibu told Sishuram to organize a strongman, Sishuram told him about Ajita. When Sishuram and Dr. Shibu came to Ajita, she was singing in the prize distribution ceremony. Sushobhon praised highly about Ajita. After some time when Ajita came to help the doctor, then he told her that she should learn nursing instead of singing. Ajita came to know that Dr. Shibu had enough ability to do caesarian operation. She also came to know that for some reason Shibu was in the Andamans for some time. When Ajita came back she over heard that Mahesh babu was felling Nibaran and Sushobhan that Ajita's marriage with a brilliant student of medical college was almost settled. That man was agreed in the marriage as Ajita used to sing well and she was the daughter of a professor Jogesh Babu, but due to some political reason the man was sentenced to the Andamans. Ajita went to Calcutta to learn nursing. She also started giving tutions on music lessons. After several try at last Jogesh babu got a publisher of his book due to Ajita. Ajita and Shibu both came to know that before a couple of years they were supposed to marry each other. Shibu had already dedicated his life in the service of common people. Ajita also stood against Mahesh in the election. Through their fights against oppression again they both came closer.
