Sardari Begum is a 1997 Indian Bollywood biopic film released on 1997. The film is directed by Shyam Benegal, produced by Mahesh Bhatt , music composed by Vanraj Bhatia.

The police are called to examine the death of a lady during a riot in the walled city of Delhi. She was murdered by a stone thrown by a flustered mob. The woman is murdered and is known in the community as "Sardari Begum" (played by Kiron Kher), a popular singer and whore. The religious nature of the incident and the looming elections combine to attract the media's attention. When a young reporter covering the death ceremony of Tehzeeb Abbasi (played by Rajina Raj Bisaria), discovers her dad among the mourners, her curiosity tells her to investigate further. Then comes the news that the singer was in fact her aunt, who was discarded by her family for rebelliously learning melodies from a concubine.
