Sonam Raja is a 1993 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1993. The film is directed by Salil Chattopadhyay, produced by Parama Chitram , music composed by Amal Mukhopadhyay.

Raja Ghosh (Bhasker) is an innocent man and a good musician. One day he meets a sweet homely girl Sonai (Indrani). They fall in love with each other. Sonai stayed with her ill widow mother Ratna (Sabitri) in an "akhara" with the help of " Mohanti Mosai" ( Satya Bandopadhyay). The mahajan of that village Golok Samanta (Tarun Kumar) was a helpful person but his son Ananda Samanta (Uttio Rout) was a characterless man. Anando tried to befriend Sonai. But she refused him. When Sonai's mother died Raja married her. Anando tried to separate them. One day he tried to rape "bhagni" but Raja intervened and gets arrested. Raja went to jail for one year. In the meantime, Sonai leaves the place. Ananda tried to rape Sonai too but she saved herself. One day Sonai attempted to commit sucide but a lady saved her. The lady Ganga moni (Supriya Devi) was a prostitute. Sonai went to her place in town. Everybody called her Nanda. After one year when Raja came back from jail, he came to know that his wife has become a prostitute. He went to meet Sonai and wanted to know the whole story. On the other hand, Ananda was bitten by a snake and died. Raja rescued Sonai and came back with Sonai and their son.
