Teen Kanya is a 1961 Indian Bengali classical,drama,family,horror film released on May 05, 1961. The film is directed by Satyajit Ray, produced by Satyajit Ray , music composed by Satyajit Ray.

Teen konya is a collection of three short stories about three different girls. Postmaster: The first story is about a maid named Ratan, who works for the postmaster of a remote village named Udapu. Nondalala comes into the village as new postmaster. Ratan, the orphan girl taken every responsiblity to cook, wash clothes of the houshold . Postmaster also started giving her basic education. But he got an illness due to malaria and is unable to cope with the remote village life. Ratan again takes every responsibilities of his nursing. The postmaster applied for leave but after rejection of his leave application, he resignes from the job. At the time of leaving the village, Ratan had an emotional set back.She refused to receive the money that postmaster offers her as salary. Monihara: The second story is about a greedy lunatic women called Monimalla who has an addiction over to melany ?. Her husband Phanibhushan is a rich business man who comes to live in Manikpur village to control his business from there. One day he faces heavy loss due to massive fire in his godown. His wife thought that he might ask her for the jewellery base to make up the business loss. When to cope up with loss Phanibhushan went to hthe eito? to called ? money Moimala escaped from the house with the help of her distant related brother to never come back alive. Phani returned into the village. but knowing the situation he almost get dismissed 2 ? shocked and he also got an fear phycarys ? of ghost. One night, he found that the ghost of her wife Monimala entered into the room and snatched the jewellery base what phani brought from city as a gift for Monimala. Finally with the fear of ghost Phani also died. Samapti: The third story is about another rural naughty girl called Mrinmayee. Amulya returns to village after a long time from city where he was busy with education. His mother arranged an appointment for his marriage negotiation, but on the way to that place, Amulya meets Mrimmayee and falls in love. His mother is bound to arrange their marriage. But after the marriage, due to immaturity, Mrinmayee created a lot of mess to escape from her house of law to her own residence. Amulya returns to the city to complete his study. After a long time, getting a letter from a neighnour he returns to the village again. Then Mrinmayee returns to him, clearing out all the misunderstanding and start a new romantic life.


The title means "Three Daughters", and the film's original Indian release contained three stories. However, the international release of the film contained only two stories, missing out the second ("Monihara: The Lost Jewels"). This version was released on VHS in 1997 under the title Two Daughters. However, there are now DVD versions available that contain all three films.
