Story

Toofan Express is a 1938 Indian Bollywood action film released on 1938. The film is directed by Chunilal Parekh, produced by Sunder M.
Ambition! Thou art like a double edged sword that cuts both ways. All thy devoted worshippers have earned greatness: some to be remembered with awe and respect and respect and some with scorn and contempt. Nevertheless it is a fact universally acknowledged that thy hold on mankind has been the cause of great upheavals that history has recorded so far and is recording from day to day. . When our story starsts the ambition of making Princess TARA SUNDARI (Rajkumari) his consort and then becoming the King of the state of NARSINGPUR has already taken deep root in the heart of Dewan CHATUR SINGH (Chandrashekhar), who winning over NARENDRASINGH (Mino the Mystic) king JAISINGHs (Bismilla) brother to his side, administers slow poison to end the life of the sick king before Princess Tara Sundari arrives. Meanwhile the news of Princess Tara Sundari coming po st haste to meet her dying father confuses the Dewan who sends his trusted but foolish servant DHONKEL (Agha) to keep her away till the king dies. . Dhonkel sees the shadow of a masked-man in the pool of water but before he can clear his doubts, he haears the whistle of the TOOFAN EXPRESS steaming in and rushes to receive the Princess. He convinces the princess about the danger to her life who agrees to proceed to the safe lodging suggested. . Happy at the initial success, Dhonkel is airing as the motor runs fast little suspecting that his friend, the masked-man (Toofan Express) has set up a clever ruse to teach him the lesson of his life. Just as the car stops, the masked-man makes his bow to the Prinxess and introducing himself as the true friend of the state, explains his presence there. The hesitation of the Princess to believe him is removed by the attack of Dhonkel and his men on the masked man who puts up a stubborn fight, clearing the way for the Princess to rush away in the car to meet her dying father. . While the Princess is rushing to meet her father, the Dewan and her uncle taking advatage of the failing memory of the king, gets a blank sheet of paper signed in addition to the regular will that he had made making the Princess his sole heiress after his death. . Fighting with time, the Princess enters the palace to be taken prisoner by the masked hirelings of the Dewan. The ever watchful TOOFAN EXPRESS takes a leap over a wall and putting up a severe fight manages her excape. The father meets the daughter-to die. . Days pass on! The Princess being a minor has no hand in the administration of the state. The only relieving factor in her otherwise monotonous life is the remembrance of the TOOFAN EXPRESS. Her uncle is the Regent but the real force that counts in the state of Narsinghpur is Dewan Chatursingh whom she hates and distrusts. . One day, the chief of her army and her childhood companion Sunder Kumar comes to pay his respects to her. As they go on talking, their young hearts experience novel kind of thrills. Just then enters Durjansingh Dewans right hand man with an order for Sunder Kumar to start immediately for Taragarh to coooect the revenue. The princess persuades Sunder Kumar to disobery the order of Dewan but SUNDER KUMAR (Jal Merchant) for several political and personal reasons laughs out the suggestion, saying that he was a loyal officer and as such was dutybound to carry out the orders. Annoyed at Sunder Kumars reply she leaves the room in fury, little suspecting that it was the part of his plan to keep her displeased. . Narendra Singh has become a tool in the hands of MINAKSHI (Gulshan), dewans concubine, who keeps him intoxicated with wine and encircled by lovely women. Removing the only possible obstacle in the success of his designs in the above manner, the Dewan directs his attention to fill up the state coffers by harassing the subjects. . For two continuous years, the crops had failed, due to scarcity fo rains and to invoke the blessings the village folk of Taragarh has assembled in the village chawk to offer prayers to Dhartimata. All of a sudden there comes old DHARAMSINGH (Master Mohammad) in search of his daughter KRISHNI who was missing from the house since yesterday. In the meantime, Krishni (Nurjehan) turns up and with tears rolling from her eyes tells the tale of her molestation by the Dewan. Poor Dharamsingh! His rage knows no bounds! Krishni prefers to kill herself rather than live the life of shame. All assembled there cry for revenge but become subdued like lambs on the entry of the Dewan with Sunder Kumar, Dhonkel and others. The poor folk are harassed and hammered for the payment of revenue inspite of their inability to pay. Just then enters Tara Sundari who reminding the Dewan of the wish of her late father, appeals to the good sense of Sunder Kumar to side with her in a cause that deserves sympathetic consideration. Finding that Sunder Kumar was as stone hearted as the Dewan, she offers her jewellery in payment of the revenue and leaves the chawk annoyed and dejected. . Leaving the crowd wondering and gasping at the attitude of the Princess, the Dewan follows her. Solitude induces him to speak of love to her but she scrnfully laughs at his silly talk. Losing the balance of his mind the Dewan advances to take liberty with her person, but lo! there deops as if from heaven TOOFAN EXPRESS on his neck. Fight of a most thrilling nature is the result of the contact between TOOFAN EXPRESS and the Dewan and his men. TOOFAN EXPRESS with the speed of the lightning takes the princess on his horse and flies, followed by the Dewan and his men. They reach at the top of a billock. TOOFAN EXPRESS hiding the Princess in a safe place therows himself with the horse in the water below. . Princess Tara Sundaris efforts to open the eyes of her ever pleasure seeking uncle to facts prove abortive. On the contrary he brings pressure on her to accept Dewan Chatursingh as her husband, presenting a false document representing her fathers desire in support of his advice. She flares up and tells one and all to mind their own business . As time passes, the Dewan becomes a moral wreck. One day he tries to outrage the modesty of Dhonkels fiancee Chanda (Nazira). Dhonkel intervenes to be beaten and driven out but before the Dewan succeeds in his nefarious object, TOOFAN EXPRESS scares the Dewan away. From that day onwards, Dhonkel and Chanda become the trusted friends and ally of TOOFAN EXPRESS. . Things begin to move fast as the trial of strength between the Dewan and the TOOFAN EXPRESS starts in right earnest. TOOFAN EXPRESS secures the late kings will after a terrible fight with the Dewan and keeps it in the safe custody of the Princess. Suspecting the Princess to be in league with TOOFAN EXPRESS the Dewan demands the return of the will from her but she refuses to part with it. The Dewna orders Sunder Kumar to snatch it from the hands of the Princess but refusing to do so, he leaves their presence. The Dewan tries to obtain the will by force but TOOFAN EXPRESS below and the other above. Dhonkel coming to her rescue clears the misunderstandin and avenges on the imitation TOOFAN EXPRESS i.e. the Dewan, who subsequently puts the Princess in prison for high treason. . Minakshi intervenes and stops overtures of the Prinvess in jail. For this impudence she is put under arrest but Narendra turns up there and obtains her release. Be ing and intelligent woman, Minakshi undrstandes the ultimate aim of the Dewan and tries to take her revenge on him by revealing his hidden motives to Narendrasingh who begins to see things in their proper light. The Dewan turns up there and some hot words are exxchanged between the two Revolver shot is fired and Narendra drops down. While Minakshi is being sent to prison for Narendras murder the corpse of Narendra disappears mysteriously. Check out this page for more updates on Toofan Express.
