Man is but a dummy doll in this universe and to him children - the innocent dolls - same as blessigs bestowed to rich and poor alike. " TOOTE KHILONE" unfolds the story of such an innocent toy like Ashok. . Ashok was only two when Nirmala (his mother) died while being operated upon for cancer. But before Death could separate the mother and the son. Nirmala handed Ashok over to Sheela - a neighbour living withher mother. Sheela had caressed ashok even during his mothers illness to the extent of his naming her as "Munny" and Nirmala as "Auntie". This tender nursing saved Ashok from any doleful effect on his mind. But to dileep this shock was unbearable and he was seen lost in himself always. He also got the feeling that Nirmalaa soul was even that day present in the house. . After amrriage Dileep, Sheela, Ashok went on a pleasure trip to Moussori and thence to Bombay. Meanwhile Sheelas mother shifted to Dileeps house. On their return she poisomed Sheelss mind against ashok and every day there was a row in the house. . Consequently he went out of temper and slapped the child to his heart- breaking for this was the first time that Dileep had beaten him. On the same night Ashok slipped out of the house along with the dog. The people at house became disturbed, combed the whole city and Sheela truned her mother out of the house. In the meantime there came a ring from the Police station informing that Ashok was in Orphans Institution. Dileep and sheela went there to bring him. But on seeing them Ashok ran upstairs in fear. dileep followed him. At this critical moment the dog showed his proverbial faithfulness and rescued Ashok when his life was in danger. Ashok, Dileep and Sheela returned home. . The broken toy was mended. But in this struggle of life our slightest mistake breaks thusands such toys that can be saved by love and sweet words. Harsh speaking and thrashing has the reverse effect of spoiling the children while softness and love can win over not even them but elders as well.
