Upaasna is a 1971 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1971. The film is directed by Mohan, produced by Mohan , music composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.
No two brothes loved each other so much and no two brothers sacrificed so much for one another and their principles! . Ram and Mohan were two such brothers. Born into an illustrious family fo the upholders of law and justice Ram the older of the two had an established reputaiton of being a first rate Public Prosecutor, whilst Mohan, the younger, had only just passed his L.L.B. exams and was in two minds whether to follow family tradition and become a Public Prosecutor or to practice as a Defeance Attorney. . Blossomed youth in the shape of Shalu was Mohans sweetheart she work ed as a Secretary to a business tycoon, Mr.Jagdish, who had his eyes on her too - as he fell for almost all females. Shalu naturally did not like this attitude and had, more than once, snubbed him. . Mohan and Shalu were blissful and happy in love when, quite out of the blues the inevitable happened. Shalu rejcted Mohans proposal of marriage and no reasona were given. Shocked out of his wits, Mohan left town in the hope of forgetting Shalu and his past. . Fate decreed it so! And so it was ! Shalu found herslef being looked after by Ram in his house, following an accident which left her a cripple. Life semed hopeless for her having lost her love, lost her home and now having lost her legs too. Whilst nursing Shalu back to normality, Ram also secretly nursed a hope that someday Shalu would agree to marry him and took her `Yes for granted, after all, he was the most eligible bachelor she did agree to stay in his house she was comfortable and above all, she had no place to go. . Ram accordingly wrote to his brother Mohan to return and approve of his sister-in-law to be. Mohan whose happiness kenw no bounds at the news that his brother had decided to take a bride, forgot his own heart-break and greet his brother, but was shocked at the presence of Shalu. She explained the whole situation to Mohan who reconciled to the acts of fate and wanted to clear the matter with his elder brother Ram felt quite hurt and betrayed and turned out the two people out he loved most, Mohan and Shalu, out of the house, to fend for themselves and defend Shalu, now that she was charged with the murder of her former boss Jagdish. . The two brothers next met in court. Ram as the Prosecuting Attorney and Mohan as the Defence Attorney. . At the trial that ensued, questions and cross-questions of the Prose- cution left the Judge with no other alternative but to bring in the verdict of `Guilty. . Fate had its own ways and cobined with sincertiy of love and prayers, played strange, but truer than fiction games. As has been said, rightly so, Fate can move mountains but Upaasna moves the worlds. . But for the last minute revelation by Lilly, the mistress of Jagdish, Shalu would have been no more, and no more would anyone anywhere, believed in Upaasna But that was not to be.
