He was born on August 29, 1959. He is an Indian film actor who is known for his work in the Bollywood and Tamil movies. He is the recipient of two National Filmfare awards and nine Nandi awards and two Filmfare awards in south. His filmy career include the movies like: Annamayya; Agni Varsha; LOC Kargil; Sri Ramadasu; Sai Baba of Shirdi in the 2012 film Shirdi Sai; Chandaludu (Lord Siva in disguise),Gitanjali and many others. He represented the ‘Cinema of South’ at the Delhi Film festival. He is the co-owner of his production house Production company, Annapurna Studios and is the president of the non-profit film school Annapurna International School of Film and Media based in Hyderabad. He was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born to the veteran actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni and Annapurna Akkineni. He completed his education from Hyderabad Public School and Little Flower Junior College. He did his engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy. He completed his master‘s degree from Eastern Michigan University. His wife is Amala Akkineni. He has campaigned for many charity shows. He is the owner of Blue Cross of Hyderabad and NGO.
