He was born on 20 September 1923 . He died on 22 January 2014. He was an actor and a producer. He used to work in the Telugu movies. He had worked in more than 255 movies. He had worked in the Telugu, Tamil and Hindi movies. He constructed a studio, Annapurna Studios. He started the Annapurna International School of film and Media within the studio. He was the recipient of four state Nandi Awards, National Dada Saheb Phalke Award and five Filmfare Awards - South. He was given the Padma Vibhushan award. He had acted in the movies such as Vipranarayana, Sriramadasu, Tukaram, Sri Rama Rajyam etc. His social films included Bratuku Teruvu, Samsaram, Donga Ramudu, Aradhana, Dr. Chakravarthi, Mangalya Balam, Ardhaangi, Batasari, Illarikam, Velugu Needalu, Shantinivasam, Dasara Bullodu, Dharmadata, Bharya Bhartalu, and College Bullodu were commercially successful films.
