She had modeled for well known brands such as Nirma detergent, Vicco Turmeric cream etc. She was signed for the lead role in the film Hathyar. Fame came to her after doing the film 'Tridev'. The film was a superhit. She was felicitated with a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nomination for Mahesh Bhatt's Jurm (1990). She had also worked in Ijjat, Yodha, Yugandhar, Khoon Ka Karz and Vishnu Deva. She had anchored in the Doordarshan's famous serial 'Rangoli'. She was married to Mohammad Azharuddin.
