Story

Asha is a 1957 Indian Bollywood comedy, romance film released on Jan 01, 1957. The film is directed by M V Raman. Partly made in colour, this love story and crime drama is a comedy variation of the Hamlet theme. The story revolves around an old landowner, Hasmukhlal (Prakash), his son Kishore (K. Kumar) who is accused of murder, and the villain Raj (Pran) who is Kishores cousin. The love object is Nirmala (Vyjayanthimala), the niece of a millionaire coveted by Raj. Kishore, masquerading as an Arab, launche a theatre company and resolves the conflicts by performing a play in front of the rela-life characters to whom teh fiction is addressed. Director Raman, star Vyjanthimala and writer Jawar Seetaraman enlivended a standear AVM plot, with Ramachandras fast-paced music and Kishore Kumars mainly slapstick acting and relying on his pioneering singing style culminating in the foot-stomping and ever popular number Ina Mina Dika (Sung in two versions, one by Kishore Kumar and the female version by Asha Bhosle). *.* AASHA (Hope) ultimately leads a man to his destination, but before that, it presents itself in various colours. Bellapore Estate Jagirdar Hansmukhlal, at the instance of his widow sister Durgawati, sent his only son Kishre to Bombay with the hope that he will, on his return, shoulder the responsiblities of administering the Jagir efficiently but destiny turned him a Murderer instead of a jagirdar. . Durgawatis son Raj "a person addicted to all sorts of evils" had on the one hand molested Kamini by giving a false promise to marry Nirmala, `loving -niece of a millionaire Mr. Chamanlal. But Nirmala had chosen "Kishore" instead of "Raj" as her dream-boy, but Kishore had been declared as a Murderer of Ronaqlal, Kaminis father. Love knows no barriers. . Kaminis fathers death rendered her helpless. She had to live at the mercy of Raj. Nirmalals uncle Chamanlal lost his mental equilibirium. Raj seized the opportunity and took him in his coustody. Nirmala, under the compulsion of circumstances, joined a theatrical company as a dancer. The owner of the company was an Abdul Rehman. Raj watched the progress of the company and finally offered his hand of friendship to Abdul Rehman. Their friendship was established. Nirmala made "Raj" to believe that she has a soft corner for him, but her approach had a meaning in it. . Bellapore Jagirdar extended an invitaiton to Abdul Rehman to visit Bellapore with his company, while the latter obliged. The said Abdul Rehman staged a dramatic performance in Bellapore which stunned the audience. Check out this page for more updates on Asha.
