Kaal is a 2005 Indian Bollywood suspense thriller, action, horror film released on Apr 29, 2005. The film is directed by Soham Shah, produced by Shah Rukh Khan.

Kaal is a suspense thriller about six people who find themselves stuck in the middle of a jungle. The film marks the directorial debut of Soham Shah who has earlier assisted Karan Johar and Ram Gopal Varma.

John Abraham plays a conservationist, wildlife researcher Krish who comes to Jim Corbett National Park along with his photographer wife Riya (Esha Deol) to search the answers for mysterious deaths in the forest.

Vivek Oberoi plays a flamboyant character named Dev and Lara Dutta plays his superstitious girlfriend Ishika. The two come to the forest with a group of friends for an adventure trip for the weekend.

The two groups decide to stick together in the wilderness. . The visitors can feel the presence of some beast close by. Now the only escape from sure death for them is to find a way out of the jungle.

Ajay Devgan plays Kali Pratap Singh, a rustic man who is well acquainted with the jungle and the wildlife in it. Kali decides to help the stranded group to escape out of the forest.

Kaal is based on an adventure thriller story in which two British Nationals are killed by a ferocious tiger in Orbit Park, India. This incident follows several other incidents, and many deaths result, prompting a National Geographic correspondent, Krish Thapar, and his sexy photographer, Riya, to take a trip to this park and ascertain what really happened. A group of youngsters, consisting of Dev Malhotra, Ishika, Bagga, and Vishal, on a thrill and hunting trip also arrive there in the hopes of sighting and shooting some big prey. Both Thapar and Malhotra groups meet with each other, and seek the guidance of a local called Kaali. What these folks do not know that they are the ones who have been singled out to be the prey - and soon they will find out that there is no escape from Kaal (death) - as it hunts them down one by one.
