At the age of 41, one could not possibly come across a person healthier than Bhagawant Kumar Bhartendu. . As thorough medical check up fortnightly and at times even weekly failed to deatect even an ordinary sickness in him, Bhagawant, Profe- ssor of English in a reputed college, was financially well placed, happily married since 10 years to an attractive, jocial and lively Priya. Despite the medical reports of his sound and physical disposit- ion he cannot get rid of the deep rooted fear from his mind that he is suffering from some chronic ailment. In fact it is his subconscience hoping to be a victim of the most dreaded disease if possible the latest in medical science, may be to have the sympathies of his friends and his dear wife. . One morning this long awaited moment comes but contrary to the enthu- siasm expected from him in welcoming the disease, he is terrified and shaken up. As fate has angina pactorice in store for him, it is an advance stage of heart trouble causing death within three monthes. This he overhears his family doctor discussing on phone with the specialist who diagonised his latest cardiogram. Bhagawant who has been always eager to be sick, thinks the talk is about him and he firmly believes he is going to die, though the doctors are talking about some other patient, whereas he is himself as hail and hearty as he always was. . Bhagawnats despair increases as he keeps brooding over his misfortune Though he overcomes the shock of the tragedy to take place with now. What will happen to Priya after his death? She is so innocent and pure at heart, who can be easily decieved and moreover she is beautiful and young. He gets nightmares that Priya is being cheated, exploited, dishonoured and tortured by the cruel world. When ultimately after long deliberations with his freind Venkat Vyas, as to what should be done about Priya, a bright idea strikes Venkat that of her marriage. After bhagawant the best and the only way out for Priya would be to marry again. At first Bhaagawant has reservations about such an arran- gement but later admits that it is the only solution. But then whom should she marry? She is definitely not capable of finding a husband on her own. Bhagawant feels that he should himself find a person for his wife with whom she will get married after his death. . Bhagawant who is perfectly fit and healthy and not going to die, but is under the impression that he is going to die, begins desperately looking for a husband for his wife which leads to humorous situations creating roaring laughters.
