The storm raged outside.....Inside my family awaited my arrival. I was to be born. . My father shouted aloud "Woman, I warn thee! If the new born is a son you stay, otherwise out you go accompanying the FEMALE you add to this family" My sad mother heard these threats in silence. . There was a knock at the dooe......A woman drencched to the skin drove in avicctoria to our door and brgged for shelter. She too was to deliver a child any moment. Our door was opened to her. As the clock struck two, we two were born; both girls....My arrival annoyed my father. . Soon the usurpers become the masters; I and my poor mother had to leave. Our old sevent Gopi acccompanied us. . This shock maddened my mother she lost her senses, she lost all interests in life. She had to be removed to a Lunaticassylem. . Time moved on I was sixteen when one day Gopi whom I called my uncle, recealed the truth to me. Child, he said "you and your mother suffer, while a wicked woman with her daughter, is thriving on your fathers wealth." I thought of revenge. One night, disised as a boy I ran away from hime. Helpless, friendless and almost penniless I reached Bombay. I passed a night on the stoney steps of a statue and it was here that I met NANDAN, the poor beloved vagabond, who stried for an honest living but starvead all the same. . He took me for a boy who had run away from home.......He extended his sympathetic hand.......He called me his Comrade........ . With some money that I had we started to live in two separate rooms, Neither I revealed nor it occured to him that I was a girl. So all went well for some time. . Soon my womans heart betrayed me......I fell in love with Nandan, but could not express it. I could tolerate his talking to any other girl but could not stop it. I had two big problems, but no solution. . At last I told Nandan who I really was......He was dazed.... Amazed beyound words. . Together we woeked on the plan to regain the lost kingdom of my sick mother. I was to keep the disguise, till every thing was alright. . Nandan managed to get a job in my fathers house.....Nandan managed to get a job for me too. Baby the daughter of the wicked woman ruled the place. She soon started making advancces to my Nandan. The glow of love in her eyes, shadowed my world. He contrived to create an effecct of Hydrophobia with some soap solutin and convinced my father that his baby and her mother were bitten by a mad dog and should at once be removed to the hospital. My father was so frightened with the news that he obeyed my Nandan as he said. . Now was the time for me to reveal my identity I threw away my boys dress and clang to my fathers feet.
