For an animated film, Rango is anything but cute. And thank god for that. The characters are mostly eyesores and the landscape is harsh, even if beautifully rendered. In fact, we suspect it's secretly not intended for kids either, and will appeal to adults more. Rango isn't in 3-D. Which is a respite from those bulky frames shoved in our faces to make that quick buck. Rango proves that you don't need that extra dimension to dazzle.
