Soaked in kitschy 80s nostalgia, 'Rock of Ages' is a goofy movie-musical that’s hard to resist. The film’s charm lies not in its familiar premise – of a small-town girl who arrives in the City of Dreams to become a star – but in its mix-tape soundtrack of rock-and-roll hits belted out by the film’s cast, and in the outrageous, incredible performance of Tom Cruise. Bring out those Tom cruise posters, the man's ready to be plastered on those lifeless walls and inanimate wardrobe doors once again. Coz it's Stacee-time! From Maverick to Stacee Jaxx, the gummy grinner hasn't lost an ounce of his allure but his definition of bad ass heroics and big screen adventure has positively undergone a wicked upgrade. The two leads are Diego Boneta, playing Drew, a bartender in the Strip’s hottest club, and Julianne Hough, as Sherrie, a naive kid just off the bus from the Midwest

Rock of Ages, a jukebox musical turned junky big-screen attraction about making it in the music biz back when it still existed, is just entertaining enough to keep you from dark thoughts about the state of Hollywood. The movie is too insipid for such hand-wringing, in any event, and the attention-grabbing turns by Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and especially Tom Cruise as a rock-star crazy help enliven its overlong two hours. All singing, some dancing

Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) travels from Oklahoma to Los Angeles to become a singer like every other teenager attracted to the glamorous world of Hollywood. On the day she arrives, she loses her baggage but finds Drew (Diego Boneta) another wannabe singer-musician. He gets her a job in The Bourbon Room as a waitress and she takes it up instantly hoping to find her big break like her idol Stacee Jaxx did. Meanwhile, The Bourbon Room is under attack
