It's a Jason Statham movie where the actor is once again seen paving his way to victory while sorting the good from the bad. So no prizes for guessing what lies in store: gun firing in loads and fist fights in aplenty. Add to that some Statham-ism and there's no looking back. Now, how many actors do we have out there who pick up call girls in NYC, pay them plenty of that dollar, get an entry into a sizzling restaurant and ask them to leave immediately

Safe is about a former New York city cop who is about to commit suicide when a young girl ‘saves’ him. Then, he makes saving the girl his life’s mission. Here along for the ride is a 10-year-old Chinese girl (who else?) who has a photographic memory that lets her remember numbers and count them by just glancing at them. That makes her a high-priced commodity among the Russian mafia, the Chinese ganglords, and the entirely morally bankrupt -- or so the film would have it -- New York police force. Presumably calculators or cameras of any sort

But wait, this time there’s something different — the Transporter films have Statham driving recklessly and shooting bullets while trying to save women, while Safe has Statham driving recklessly and shooting bullets while trying to save a little kid. It’s tough to be so dismissive of an action movie, especially one that is directed by Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans), but when a film has nothing to offer besides clichéd characters and a scrubby collection

    "Safe" is decent, but forgettable.
