A typical Hollywood spy thriller often delves into exploring and showcasing the impossible, without caring too much about how realistic the plot or its character looks. It’s different that the lead actors in these films play their roles convincingly and thus make these films believable... Coming back to the archetypal espionage thrillers, the dare devil spy of the film is a killing machine who can bring down whoever and whatever he wants

The titular role was originally written for Tom Cruise but he declined, choosing to star in the somewhat similarly-themed Knight and Day instead. Subsequently the producers decided on a gender-switch; he (Edwin Salt) became she (Evelyn Salt); and Angelina Jolie clinched the assignment. Unfortunately, they forgot to add a few things like a plausible storyline, credible characters and edge-of-the-seat excitement.

Angelina Jolie’s action thriller Salt has assumed greater relevance with the recent arrest of 10 Russian spies, including ‘hot’ redhead Anna Chapman, in the United States. Jolie even invited Chapman to the premiere of Salt, but in vain. Our reel-life Chapman, Evelyn Salt (Jolie), is a CIA agent whose loyalty is questioned when Russian defector (Daniel Olbrychski) claims that she is one of hundreds of Russian spies let loose in the US

A man walks into a building and tells security that he is a Russian spy... sounds like the beginning of a joke doesn't it? Angelina Jolie and the rest of the people responsible for the movie Salt will be hoping that millions of people take the movie seriously enough to buy tickets and go watch what I imagine Team Jolie is hoping will become a major action franchise. Towards that end, the multi-wigged mother of six (in real life, not in the movie)

“Who is Salt?” is the question posed, for the past month or so, on the side of just about every bus in the land. To the extent that Salt is a mystery, the question is apt enough. Is she — played at high velocity and with steely ferocity by Angelina Jolie — a Russian mole, a CIA superassassin or a little of both? But to the much greater extent that Salt, directed by Phillip Noyce from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer, is an action movie

Khatta Meetha is a remake of the Malayalam hit Vellanakalude Nadu, made by the same director. The original was made in the late '80s. Twenty years later, the subject and the narrative seem to have lost steam. Priyan should have spruced up the script, which sadly reminds one of the typical South potboilers of a bygone era. Khatta Meetha revolves around a young road contractor Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) who's struggling to make ends meet
