Seven Pounds 2009

Seven Pounds is a 2009 Hollywood drama film released on Feb 13, 2009. The film is directed by Gabriele Muccino, produced by Todd Black.

Tim Thomas (Will Smith) was a gifted aerospace engineer with a pretty wife and a beautiful beach house. Once, while using his cell phone while driving, his car went across lanes and he became responsible for the deaths of 7 people, including his beloved wife. Unable to forgive himself or raise the dead, Tim sets out to give "pounds of flesh" that will give new leasse of life to seven deserving individuals to make up for the seven lives he took away. Just as Antonio would have to die to pay Shylock the "pound of flesh" he demands, Tim intends to kill himself to atone for his sins. Ben (Michael Ealy), his brother...who works for the IRS, is concerned about his state of mind. Tim steals his brother's IRS ID to access the IRS database and to find and meet people who he believes are worthy of his gifts which includes body organs and material possessions. Holly Apelgren (Judyann Elder), Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson), Connie Tepos (Elpidia Carrillo) and Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) are among those whom he identifies to help. Furthermore, Tim assumes his brother's identity of "Ben Thomas" to personally investigate these people and verify that they are indeed the right people he should help. He makes a plan when he identifies his 7 beneficiaries, that requires his best friend Dan (Barry Pepper) to see that his wishes are carried out after he is dead. However, Tim's plan threatens to unravel when he starts falling in love with one of the people he is trying to help.

Ben Thomas is an official from the Apogee Aeronautics, who meets with a devastating accident on the high ways of Las Vegas. The accident has occurred partially because of his absentmindedness. Ben’s wife gets slaughtered in the mishap. 6 other in another car loose their life. A repentful Ben vows to help the families of the deceased. He steals his brother’s identity card and starts to visit and trespass every family, posing as an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the national treasury department. While his brother tries to evaluate the incident as a mere accident, the serenity and humanity in Ben rips him apart in a psychological oscillation. Ben visits Emily Posa, (who has a failed heart and won’t survive long), Ezra Turner (a blind BPO Employee), Suzanne (a bankrupt single mother with two kids)and others. He experiences what they are going through as a result of his unintentional deed. Ben falls in love with Emily. His soul wrenches for the troubled lady. Ben finally annihilates himself. He donates his heart to Emily, his eyes to Ezra and his seaside apartment goes to the homeless and hapless Suzanne. The victims and their allies recapitulate the series, but then of course it’s more than late.
