Story


Sreeman Prithwiraj is a 1973 Indian Bengali romance, costume drama, drama, family film released on 1973. The film is directed by Tarun Majumdar.

Rasik is the only son of Banamali. His idol is king Prithviraj and accordingly the spends all his time fighting with rival gangs and mischief making. His father, fed up with all the complaints, decides to get him married. The alarmed Rasik runs away from this home only to be brought back home by a teacher. He's married to Amala, the daughter of Pannalal, a devoted servant of the English -hoping to get the title of Roy Bahadur. Amala turns out to be more educated than Rasik but the couple are drawn close to each other in their simple innocence and love. Pannalal tries to get Rasik educated in English by the magistrate's brother-in- low. Rasik sleep though the lessons, a result of reading though the night with Amala. The couple are separated but aided by Saratshashi, Amala’s friend, they keep meeting. In the meantime, Akhil, Sarat’s husband and a dreaded revolutionary, comes. Pannalal discovers this and informs the English. Akhil is arrested but Rasik not only helps him to escape but punches the Magistrate's son-in law. The two families become hostile to each other and Rasik's father arranges for his second marriage despite Rasik's vehement protest. He writes to Amala for her reply. Her reply is delayed become she was sent away to her uncle's home. Rasik runs away from the marriage and goes to kidnap Amala. A party of all English officials was being held in Panna's house were he reached there. He took Amala away in Panna's car without knowing how to drive. The chaos is heightened by the freedom fighters, headed by Akhil, bombarding the English party. Rasik and Amala reach home. Banamali challenges Pannalal to take his daughter but Pannalal is more bothered about the ruined car than the daughter. The two families are reconciled and Amala’s love blossoms.
