The buddy-cop genre is back! From Tango and Cash to 21 Jump Street, this genre has been put through pretty much everything -- action, thrillers, comedy, you name it. Then what's so new about The Heat? Director Peter Feig -- of Bridesmaids fame -- brings to us a story that did not, for once, make me hit my head on my desk repeatedly after examining the movie's gender dynamic. The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as socially awkward FBI special

The buddy cop genre has been the sole prerogative of male actors so far, but that formula gets a well-deserved kick in the pants with The Heat. The film stars Sandra Bullock as Ashburn, a by-the-book FBI agent who is reluctantly partnered with Melissa McCarthy's foul-mouthed Boston cop Mullins while on the hunt for an elusive drug lord. The Heat has all the elements you’d expect from a buddy cop movie — the oil-and-water partnership, the car chases, the wisecracks — and a few you wouldn’t — for instance, a scene involving Spanx (slimming intimates). Uptight New Yorker Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is an FBI agent. She is 'Miss I-know-it-all', who is hated by her colleagues for being overtly competitive and unapologetic about her competence as a law enforcer. She even competes with the sniffer dogs of her squad with an intention of outshining them! Ashburn is sent to Boston to crack a case, where she is forced to work with cocky and short-tempered Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy)

Think 21 Jump Street, but with two women reprising the roles of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. In The Heat, Sandra Bullock and Mellisa McCarthy play the roles of a FBI special agent and a Boston detective. Both actresses bring star power to the film with their names. Bullock an Academy Award winning star is America's darling while McCarthy has become a household name post Bride Wars. So when this oddball pairing goes on a hunt
