Time flies when you're not wondering about the welfare of the Smurfs, those diminutive, animated blue-skinned forest-dwellers. Turns out they've been just fine since their 2011 big-screen outing, but there's trouble brewing in their new adventure-comedy that will require their curious blend of wide-eyed optimism and goofy enthusiasm to peacefully resolve. A sequel largely unwarranted other than for box office and promotional purposesRead full review2.5

Like the earlier film in 2011, 'The Smurfs 2' is a harmless but far-from-delightful kiddies picture that appears to have a cash register where its heart ought to be. It's formulaic and cutesy but never treads new ground, sticking closely to the template of the previous film that grossed $564 million dollars. The plot, once again, involves the little blue fellas venturing out into the "real world" to save their species from their lifelong nemesisRead full review2.0

Color me blue. The Smurfs franchise worked because every 5-year-old dragged his parents to the theatre and wanted a matching toy. In its sequel the story shifts from the Big Apple to Paris where the nasty wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) is looking for a ‘surf essence’ that gives these tiny creatures their blue colour. For this he kidnaps Smurfette (Katy Perry) to give him that magical power to rule over the world. Neil Patrick Harris, George LopezRead full review2.0

The other day, my young neighbour dropped by and suggested I should review The Smurfs 2. ‘I think it will be really good,’ she predicted sharing her drawing of Belgian artist Peyo’s famous blue creations for me. The little girl who turns seven next month is a huge Smurfette fan and previously accompanied me on Chhota Bheem. I guess she wanted me to take her for Smurfs as well and I probably would if it wasn’t a school dayRead full review2.0

Adreary sequel to the 2011 live-action/animation hybrid, The Smurfs 2 is as inert and unfunny as the original. Based on the comic-strip characters created by the Belgian artist known as Peyo (the nom de plume of Pierre Culliford) the pint-sized critters venture outside their forest dwelling to rescue their sister (voiced by pop-singer Perry) from the clutches of a scheming sorcerer (Hank Azaria, insufferable as ever). Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma MaysRead full review1.5

This season seems to be dedicated for kids. After 'Turbo' and 'Zambezia', director Raja Gosnell's 'The Smurfs 2' is another rollicking roller-coaster hybrid-live action-cum-animated film. Based on the characters and works of Belgian comic artist Peyo, 'The Smurfs 2' is a sequel to the 2011 film, 'The Smurfs'. For the uninitiated, the Smurfs are blue, three apple-high friendly individuals who live in mushroom houses in Smurf Village, a fantasy landRead full review
