Where have all the husbands gone? Just a few weeks ago, it was Jennifer Lopez who opted for artificial insemination because she couldn't find the perfect mate in Back-up Plan. This time, it's 40-year-old feminist TV producer, Jennifer Aniston who inseminates herself with a turkey baster, when she fails to find her Mr Right: a man who would double up as perfect husband and great daddy to her unborn kid.

Romantic comedies need a premise – one that keeps two people who you know will end up together apart for at least 90 minutes or so. In The Switch, the premise is one “hijacking the pregnancy” of the other. The Switch feels like it's made up of extras and bloopers out of JLo's equally disastrous attempt at a romcom titled The Backup Plan. Both films have ageing actresses trying hard to keep their kitchens burning by taking up lacklustre projects. Kassie (Jen) wants to have a baby.
