Chhaya Debi is a Actor and also worked as Singer. Chhaya Debi has mostly worked in Bengali and has worked in languages like Bengali, Hindi.
She was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was born on February 7th, 1911. She was born as Rama. Then after this she got her first break, from the director Sushil Majumdar. He gave her the name Reba. She couldn’t complete her education and could not pass the Higher Secondary Examination due to some financial crises. But, she was well versed in English and Sanskrit. She made her bollywood debut in the film “Tatinir Bichar”. This movie was released in the year 1940, directed by Sushil Majumdar. Her films include: “Nibedita” (1947), “Mantramugdha”(1949), “Sesher Kabita” (1953), “Ajana Sapath” (1967) etc. Satyajit Ray also offered her two films, “Pather Panchali” (1955) and “Abhijan” (1962). She was also a commercial stage actress. She was connected with the “Rupakar” Group. She got her ‘Rabindra Academy Award’ in the 1986. She was also an active personality of Radio Drama.
