She also won the title of Miss. Shimla and was found by Chetan Anand. So, she got an offer from the film industry in this way. Her first movie ‘Baazi’ became much hit and later she climbed the ladder of success. She also worked as an associate producer for: Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963), Jewel Thief (1967), Prem Pujari (1970), Shareef Budmaash (1973), Heera Panna (1973), and Jaaneman (1976).Dev Anand got married to her after her first break in the film ’Taxi-driver’.
