Shabana Azmi

She was born on 18 September 1950. She is a theater artist, television actor and a film actor. She was from the Communist Party of India. She is the recipient of five National Awards, four Filmfare Awards and several international honours. She has acted in many foreign projects. She is a social and women's rights activist. She had an affair with screenwriter Javed Akhtar. She is a “Goodwill Ambassador" of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA). She was born in a Muslim family. She completed her schooling from Queen Mary School, Mumbai. She obtained her graduation degree in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She then learnt acting from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. She is the recipient of National Film Award consecutively for three years from 1983 to 1985 for her roles in movies.
