Now how many of us out there can make the best of the very little (literally) that we have? How many of us can laugh at our own shortcomings - both physical and emotional? Guess not many. After all, no one is born a hero; you become heroic only when you decide to be one. Celebrating this spirit of never-say-never is The Intouchables - a story of the white aristocrat, Philippe (Francois Cluzet) who hires the black Driss ( Omar Sy) only later to realise life is all aboutRead full review4.0

Constantly bordering on the verge of feel-goodness, Intouchables is however an honest attempt to dilute the racial and class divide prevalent in our so-called modern society. Though the narrative appeals more to the Gallic multicultural complexities, the tone is pretty much universal. Based on a true story, it explores an unlikely bonding between a paralysed French aristocrat (Francois Cluzet) and his immigrant caretaker (Omar Sy)Read full review4.0

The Intouchables' has none of the frou-frou we've come to expect from the movies. The male leads don't look like underwear models. There's no 3D. There aren't any glitzy sets and while the movie does open with a scene of the characters driving around in a Maserati, it's not exactly a glamourous situation since the passenger who's called shotgun is paralysed from neck down. This is not to say that the movie doesn't have you hooked from the startRead full review3.5

French film 'The Intouchables' is what one might describe as a genuine crowd-pleaser. Releasing with the English dubbed version in India, this is a film you don't want to miss. When widowed millionaire Philippe (Francois Cluzet) appoints brash young black man and ex-convict Driss (Omar Sy) to be his caretaker over the more qualified menRead full review3.5

This critically and commercially successful French film about a wealthy White quadriplegic and the friendship he strikes with his homeless Black caregiver has drawn criticism for being “ingratiating” in its portrayal of race. The Intouchables does look and sound familiar — the rich Philippe (Cluzet) is uptight with a limited exposure to life and a dubious taste in modern art; the “man from the projects”, Driss (Sy), smokes weed, is an ex-con, loves funky music, and is irreverentRead full review3.5
