(Actor)Biography
She was born on October 25, 1925 and died on 1989. She was a very famous actress of Bengali theater and films. She was the wife of Sombhu Mitra, noted theatre director, with whom she co-founded pioneering theatre group, Bohurupee in 1948. She acted in movies like: Jukti Takko Aar Gappo, Dharti Ke Lal etc. She was given the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the highest Indian recognition given to practicing artists, given by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music. She was given the Padma Shri award. She was born in Dinajpur (British India). She was born to her father Ashutosh Bhaduri and mother was Shailabala Debi. She completed her matriculation from Pyaricharan School and got admission in Ashutosh College. She first acted in her brother’s play Agun (Fire) in 1943. She was also a part of Ritwik Ghatak's last film, Jukti Takko Aar Gappo (1974). She was also a part of "Jago Hua Savera" a 1959 Urdu movie produced in Dhaka, Bangladesh, based on a Manik Bandopadhya's classic novel "Padma Nadir Majhi".
